Online casinos now provide their customers with an enormous range of casino games to enjoy, but gambling on poker remains high on many gamblers list as their favourite form of gambling online. This popularity is thought to date back to the online poker tournaments in America during the 1970’s, which were then televised on cable and satellite channels around the world. Nowadays, most poker tournaments are played in the Texas Hold’em format, which was the version of poker used in the original World Series and of course is also the format currently used for the Irish Open. For new poker gamblers there are other forms of poker gambling online which may provide an easier introduction to the game of poker, but for serious poker gamblers Texas Hold’em is the game of choice. We have published the basic rules of Texas Hold’em poker on our casino games pages, but for those gamblers who may never have tried poker gambling in this format, here is a brief outline. Texas Hold’em is a form of community card poker with two cards dealt face down to each player, and then five community cards dealt one at a time face up in the middle of the table, which are available for all the players to use to form their best poker hand. A betting round takes place before any community cards are dealt, and then a further betting round is held after each community card is dealt, culminating in the final betting round when all seven cards are in play. Most poker gambling fans will tell you that the attraction of Texas Hold’em poker is the relatively high number of betting rounds, coupled with the availability of seven cards from which to make a hand. These features of Texas Hold’em also contribute towards higher pots on each hand, so gamblers new to Texas Hold’em gambling should beware being dragged into high stake games before they fully understand the nuances of the game. As always we would recommend learning the game in free play mode.
