The increasing accessibility of online casino gambling sites has led to a resurgence in popularity of many of the traditional casino gambling games, none more so than poker. Over recent years poker had almost become a gambling game which was primarily the preserve of professional gamblers or small groups of friends playing at home, but access to casino gambling online has brought it back to our attention in a big way. Not only are more and more of us gambling on poker online, but even the big poker tournaments have seen a massive surge in entries. For serious poker gambling fans the Texas Hold’em poker format is the game of choice, but the online casino gambling sites also offer us many alternative poker gambling games. Texas Hold’em has become the poker format used in almost every poker tournament in the world because of the use of community cards and the multiple betting rounds which build the pot as each hand progresses, but it is not the only poker gambling format available online which uses community cards. Many online casino gambling sites also feature Omaha poker, which also uses five community cards and several betting rounds during each hand. We have explained the rules of both these poker formats on our individual gambling games pages, but the main difference is that each player in Omaha poker gambling is dealt four cards face down instead of two. When gambling on Omaha poker each player must then use two and only two of these hole cards in their showdown hand. Although some may think that this difference is relatively minor it can have a significant effect on the potential value of the hole cards in the early betting rounds. For example when gambling on Omaha poker a player holding three of a kind can only use two of these cards in the final hand, and of course there is only one more available. It is also worth noting that because three of the community cards must be used it is not possible to have two flushes of different suits.
