It’s been another good year for Irish sports gambling fans, with Irish sporting heroes to the fore in many different sporting arenas, none more so than golf. With Rory Mcllroy once again sitting at the top of the world and European rankings, plus two other Irish golfers in Europe’s top twenty Irish golf gambling enthusiasts can look forward to yet more success. Professional golf is a very competitive sport and gambling on golf is never easy because of the number of potential winners in every field, and in particular when it comes to the Majors. Nevertheless, Irish golf gambling fans who back their own home grown players have had a succession of good years. It is difficult to imagine for instance anyone predicting that Irish golfers would win four of the last eight British Open championships, but Mcllroy’s victory this year came on top of Darren Clarke in 2011 and back to back success for Padraig Harrington in 2007 and 2008. Mcllroy and Harrington were also victorious in the USPGA in three of the last seven tournaments. Add to that Mcllroy’s win in the 2011 US Open following that of Graeme McDowell in 2010, and it’s clear that Irish sports gambling enthusiasts who follow golf have had a golden age. Irish golfers have of course also starred in recent successful European Ryder Cup teams, with the victorious 2014 team also captained by an Irishman in Paul McGinley. For such a relatively small country Ireland’s success in golf really is truly remarkable. Along with many other fans of gambling on golf we can only hope that Irish golfers continue to do us proud.
