Gambling on football is a very popular form of gambling, partly because we all think we know something about the game, and partly because all the major games are televised live on at least one channel which allows gamblers to follow their bets. For football gamblers in Ireland and the UK, the season is now reaching its climax. Very few gamblers on football would bet against Manchester United winning a record breaking 19th Premier League title following their win over Chelsea at the weekend, but can they achieve the double by beating Barcelona at Wembley in the European Cup final. Understandably most bookmakers have Barcelona as clear favourites, but many gamblers on football will feel that this Manchester United team is capable of beating anybody on their day, despite their perceived limitations and at odds of 3/1 being offered by Paddy Power, football gamblers could see an opportunity for a good return. In Scotland, Rangers would now appear to have beaten Celtic to the title, but both sides have dropped unexpected points this season so football gamblers may still feel that Celtic at 15/8 with Paddy Power could be a good bet. Celtic are of course massive favourites to lift the Scottish Cup against Motherwell, and in theory at least they still have a chance of the double. The FA Cup in England also sees a match with a firm favourite, with Manchester City at 4/5 with Paddy Power, but followers of the Premiership will know that Stoke play a style of football which many sides find difficult to play against, and at odds of 7/2 many football gamblers may well feel that Stoke have more than an outside chance.
