Sports gambling and Irish rugby

Now that the six nations rugby tournament has ended with a narrow victory for Ireland, Irish sports gambling fans who enjoy gambling on rugby can turn their attention to the quarter finals of the Heineken Cup. The Heineken Cup is the premier European club rugby tournament and has over recent years been a regular success story for Irish rugby, so it is no surprise that once again Irish teams are well represented at this stage of the tournament. The first two matches on Saturday 5^th April feature Ulster playing host to top English side Saracens at Ravenhill, in what will inevitably be a sell-out game for northern Ireland rugby gambling fans, whilst Leicester Tigers fans will be heading to France for their quarter final with Clermont Auvergne. Sunday 6^th April is of course the big day for rugby gambling enthusiasts from the Republic of Ireland, with Munster taking on Toulouse at Thomand Park and Leinster travelling to holders Toulon. Knowledgeable sports gambling fans with an interest in rugby will know that this is the last Heineken Cup tournament in Its current format, and up until the last few days there was even a doubt as to whether there would actually be a competition in 2015. It would appear however that agreement has finally been reached on a new structure to replace both the Heineken Cup and the Amlin Challenge Cup with two 20-club tournaments. Rugby gambling fans from rugby playing countries outside the top six nations will also be pleased that there will be a qualifier’s competition in September which will enable the top two sides to qualify to play in the Challengers Cup, opening the possibility that clubs from the emerging nations could eventually play their way into the main Champions Cup competition. Meanwhile all Irish sports gambling fans will wish the Irish sides the best of luck in this year’s tournament.
