We have often commented on the effect that online casino gambling sites have had on the popularity of poker gambling in Ireland, particularly the poker formats such as Texas Hold’em which have really taken hold and become the most played versions of the game. The online gambling sites have however also introduced us to several different versions of poker gambling some of which perhaps more suitable for inexperienced poker gamblers. Online poker gambling often involves online gamblers playing each other, and by the very nature of online gambling sites no-one knows how experienced or otherwise their opponents are. This can seriously disadvantage the less experienced player, particularly when playing an online poker format such as Texas Hold’em. We all have to start somewhere, and poker games such as Pai Gow can be a good introduction to the art of poker gambling. Several online casino gambling sites feature gambling on Pai Gow, and we have detailed the rules on our casino games pages, but here’s a brief summary. Online Pai Gow is played one on one against the bank using a standard 52 card deck plus one joker which we will come to later. The player and the bank are each dealt seven cards from which they must form two poker hands, one of five cards and the other being the last two cards. The five card hand must rank higher than the two card hand and the player must win both hands to win the game. The bank however need only win the five card hand and tie the two card hand to win. The joker in Pai Gow gambling can only be used as an ace in either hand or to complete a straight or flush in the five card hand. Sounds a bit complicated, but Pai Gow poker gambling is great fun and we think you’ll soon get the hang of it. Try it in Free play mode first.
